meet robin, your photographer

Born in Washington, D.C. and growing up in Gaithersburg, my early years were spent looking for crayfish in the creeks and building forts in the woods. We had a lot of pets growing up and the crew over the years included 13 dogs, six cats, bunnies, parakeets, iguanas, hermit crabs and fish. In high school I failed just one class- and ironically it was photography. I went to the University of Maryland and left a few gifts for Testudo.

My love for photography has been life long. I was always the one with a camera in my hand. 

I invested in my first real professional camera after becoming a mom (twice in one year). I wished to capture my children in the moment and tell the stories of their childhoods through photography. And now I find absolute joy in working with individuals and families to help them tell their own life stories.

When I’m not behind the lens or editing, you can find me at concerts, the tattoo shop, or Trader Joes. Funkhouse Photography is run on a lot of late nights, grande americanos, and a relentless passion for photography. Your session with me is going to be fun- and we will create lasting memories together, year after year, that you can display prominently and proudly in your home. My shooting and editing style is clean, colorful, candid, emotional and filled with light. My goal is to capture authentic connections and real smiles. I also know that the best moments sometimes need a little catalyst. I will help you with posing and then provide prompts for interaction that allow you to be present with your family and truly see one another.
