frequently asked questions
Q: HOW DO I BOOK A PORTRAIT SESSION?
A: Booking your session is super easy! You can call me at (240) 355-6156 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will help you to select a date and location and plan to meet at the specified time to begin your session. A 50% retainer and a signed short contract are required to book a session.
Q: WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A PORTRAIT SESSION?
A: After booking your session, I will send you my clothing and style guide and can answer any questions you may have. You will receive a reminder email a few days before your session. On the day of your session, you will meet me at the specified location. Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can get started promptly as some days I do have back-to-back sessions and I want to make the most of your time! I will lead you through a fun and relaxed session and we will capture candid moments as well as some posed moments. Once your session is complete I will let you know the estimated timeframe for your images to be edited and ready for viewing!
Q: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY SESSION?
A: After your photography session is complete, I typically share a sneak peek image within 1-2 days after your session. For family and children sessions, your proof gallery will be ready to view online within one- two weeks (but typically much sooner than that).
Q: DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?
A: I do have a studio! I often photograph newborns, child milestone sessions, cake smashes, ballet portraits, headshots, and holiday mini sessions in my studio. For family sessions, I am mostly an on location photographer and love photographing outdoors. I also do lifestyle sessions in your own home.
Q: DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH EVENTS?
A: Yes- I would love to photograph your celebrations! I photograph all kinds of events including birthday parties, anniversary parties, corporate events, rehearsal dinners, holiday parties, baptisms, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, along with other kinds of celebrations. These are considered 'event photography'. Please contact me for more details.
Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
A: I am a Nikon girl and always will be! Currently I am using a D750, 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.4, 24-70 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8, among other lenses. I have an Einstein studio light and several SB700s and use them off-camera when necessary. I also have back-up equipment in case anything malfunctions.
Q: ARE YOU INSURED?
A: Of course! I protect myself and my clients with professional liability insurance.
Q: DO YOU OFFER DIGITAL IMAGES? OR PRODUCTS TO DISPLAY IN MY HOME?
A: Both! Most of the options for portrait sessions, newborn sessions, wedding collections and event photography include high resolution digital images. I also offer high end professional photography products starting at $39, including premium quality flush mount leather albums, wall art including canvas gallery wraps and metal prints, custom framing, and much more. It is important to me to offer my clients several options- including the option to print your digital images at your own convenience as well as the option to purchase items you can display in your home immediately. Take a look at some of my product offerings here.
Q: WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY MATERNITY SESSION?
A: Typically, maternity sessions are best done between 27 and 36 weeks. Earlier for multiples!
Q: WHEN SHOULD I BOOK A NEWBORN SESSION?
A: The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are 4-14 days old, when they can still curl and sleep longer. Most of my newborn clients book me in their second or third trimester, so I have your EDD on my calendar to make sure I am available.
